Details are the ingredients that make up great design elements on a project.

They are like the flour and eggs in a cake recipe. Use too little or too much, or skip an ingredient, and the result won’t be what you were hoping for. In interior design, attention to details makes the difference between ho-hum (or worse) and WOW.

That’s what my blog is going to be about – details.

Let’s look at a custom built-in cabinet, which had been a closet in its former life. Note the color.  No, that’s not mahogany! It is burgundy paint (honestly!) with black glazing for depth and interest. The cabinet was designed to provide storage for all office needs. The doors retract into the sides of the walls to give full access to space and not be in the way. The corner rosettes match the existing home door detail, and add to the “wow factor.”
